Google is expanding its AI-powered meeting assistant, allowing Gemini to generate notes, summaries and transcripts not only for online meetings, but also for in-person discussions.
Previously limited to Google Meet users, the feature can now also be used for face-to-face meetings, as well as sessions conducted on platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
According to Google, users can activate the function via the Google Meet interface on mobile or desktop by selecting “take notes for me,” which will begin recording the conversation regardless of where it takes place.
Once activated, Gemini will process the discussion and produce a summary along with key action points, which are then automatically saved into a Google Doc stored in the user’s Google Drive.
The update marks a broader push by Google to integrate AI tools across different communication platforms, with in-person support previously only available to select Android alpha users.
