China Southern Airlines Denies Link To Passenger In Viral AirAsia Flight Incident

Date:

Chongqing to Kuala Lumpur was reportedly delayed early on April 22 after a female passenger caused a disturbance on board, questioning why no cabin crew members on the international route could speak Chinese.

According to online footage circulating on social media, the woman became increasingly agitated during boarding and was eventually asked to disembark after refusing to comply with crew instructions. Airport security officers were later called in to escort her off the aircraft, further delaying the flight.

Reports said the situation escalated after the passenger objected to being addressed in English, leading to a confrontation with both a fellow traveller and cabin crew. A Malay-speaking flight attendant later attempted to calm the situation, but the passenger continued to voice dissatisfaction over language barriers on international flights.

In the video, the woman claimed she worked for China Southern Airlines and said she understood the challenges faced by cabin crew, but insisted that international airlines should have Chinese-speaking staff, arguing it was part of proper service standards.

However, China Southern Airlines later issued a clarification stating that the individual involved was not an employee of the airline and had no affiliation with the company, distancing itself from the incident.
