Meth Pills Found After Teen Rider Dies In High-Speed Escape From Police Checkpoint

Date:

Police in Thailand have clarified details surrounding a fatal incident in which a young motorcyclist fled from officers, lost control of his vehicle, and later died following a crash, with authorities confirming that methamphetamine pills were later discovered during the investigation.

On April 24, 2026, Rayong Provincial Police issued a statement addressing the case involving a teenager who attempted to escape a checkpoint in the Map Ta Phut area. The incident, which occurred on the afternoon of April 23, had sparked public debate and raised questions from the victim’s family after videos circulated online.

According to police, officers from Map Ta Phut Police Station had signalled the rider to stop for a routine check. However, the suspect allegedly sped away towards an area behind Map Ta Phut Temple. During the pursuit, officers reported seeing him discard an object by the roadside before continuing his escape.

Moments later, while entering a narrow alley near a market area, the motorcycle reportedly lost control, struck a parked vehicle, and overturned. The rider sustained severe head injuries and died shortly afterwards. Police later confirmed that no illegal items were found on his body at the scene, but a search of the area where he was seen discarding items led to the discovery of a wallet containing 106 methamphetamine pills.

The case gained further attention after a video surfaced online alleging that officers had kicked the motorcycle, causing the crash. The claim triggered widespread debate on social media, with some users questioning police conduct while others argued the rider’s attempt to flee suggested possible wrongdoing.

The deceased’s mother later visited Map Ta Phut Police Station to seek clarification and review evidence, expressing doubts over the circumstances of her son’s death and questioning whether it was purely accidental or involved external actions.

Police have stated that investigations are ongoing, including a review of CCTV footage from the surrounding area, to establish a clear sequence of events and ensure a transparent conclusion to the case.
