PN Offers Support To BN In Negeri Sembilan Amid Political Crisis

Date:

All five Perikatan Nasional (PN) state assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan have expressed their willingness to cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) following the latter’s decision to withdraw support for the state government.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at a hotel here at around 1pm, where PN representatives confirmed their readiness to work alongside the 14 UMNO/BN assemblymen.

Opposition leader Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker said the move aims to ensure political stability and continuity in the state’s administration, while safeguarding the welfare and development of Negeri Sembilan.

He said PN lawmakers have been closely monitoring the leadership crisis that has unfolded over the past few weeks and expressed concern over its prolonged impact on governance.

“We regret that this crisis has continued and disrupted the effectiveness of the state administration, to the extent that the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly sitting had to be postponed without a new date being set,” he said in a statement read to the media.

Hanifah, who is also Labu assemblyman and Negeri Sembilan PN chairman, claimed the situation reflects a failure by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun to manage the crisis responsibly in the interest of the people.

Also present at the press conference were Serting assemblyman Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa, Gemas assemblyman Ridzuan Ahmad, Paroi assemblyman Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zain and Bagan Pinang assemblyman Abdul Fatah Zakaria.

Hanifah stressed that PN lawmakers remain committed to prioritising the interests of the state and its people, adding that cooperation with BN is part of efforts to restore stability.

Following the press conference, the five PN assemblymen submitted a formal letter to Negeri Sembilan UMNO expressing their readiness to collaborate.

The letter was handed over to UMNO representatives, Palong assemblyman Datuk Mustapha Nagoor and Johol assemblyman Saiful Yazan Sulaiman.
