Police are investigating a fatal road accident in Pandamaran, Klang, after a viral video showed members of the public attempting to move a crashed vehicle.
South Klang District Police Chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said the incident happened on April 26 at about 8.30pm along Jalan Bukit Kerayong.
Preliminary findings show a Toyota Avanza driven by a man in his 60s was travelling from Jalan Bukit Kerayong towards Jalan Banting Pandamaran when it is believed he lost control and crashed into a stone structure near a roadside house. The vehicle then ended up at the edge of a drain.
Police said attempts by bystanders to move the vehicle caused it to fall into the drain with the victim still inside.
The driver was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, along with a sudden death report. Authorities are still determining the exact cause of the crash.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward to assist investigations. They also reminded road users to stay alert, follow traffic rules, and avoid unsafe actions at accident scenes.
