Aminuddin To Remain MB Until Majority Support Confirmed In Negeri Sembilan

Date:

Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has confirmed that he will continue serving as Menteri Besar until the question of majority support in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) is conclusively determined.

Speaking at a special press conference held at his official residence on Monday at 4.30pm, Aminuddin said the decision follows an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. The development comes amid ongoing political uncertainty in the state, highlighting the importance of constitutional processes in resolving leadership disputes.

He acknowledged the announcement by 14 UMNO assemblymen who have withdrawn their support for the state government, a move that has triggered the current crisis. “I have taken note of the declaration made by the 14 UMNO ADUNs regarding their withdrawal of support,” he said.

Aminuddin explained that he had formally briefed Tuanku Muhriz on the latest position concerning support for the Negeri Sembilan administration. Following due consideration, the ruler advised and instructed him to continue discharging his duties as Menteri Besar until a definitive resolution on the matter is reached.

“In line with the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959, the state government will continue to function as usual to ensure that administrative matters run smoothly and that the interests of the people are safeguarded,” he said, underscoring the need for stability during uncertain times.

He added that any further actions will be carried out in accordance with constitutional provisions and existing laws. This includes addressing developments involving the Datuk-Datuk Undang and any moves related to the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar.

Aminuddin also called on the people of Negeri Sembilan to remain patient and continue supporting the state government as the situation unfolds, noting that public confidence plays a crucial role in maintaining governance stability.

The press conference was attended by all 17 PH state assemblymen, including Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman Anthony Loke Siew Fook, PH Members of Parliament, as well as Negeri Sembilan Amanah chairman Datuk MK Ibrahim Abd Rahman, signalling continued backing from coalition partners.
