A male teacher at a secondary school in Yunnan province has reportedly jumped from a building on campus and sustained injuries, with authorities confirming that an investigation is now underway.
According to online reports circulating on April 27, the incident allegedly involved a teacher surnamed Zhang from Yao’an No. 1 Middle School in Chuxiong. He was said to have fallen from a school building on April 24 and survived after receiving medical treatment. Authorities later confirmed he is in stable condition and out of danger.
Social media posts also claimed that Zhang had left behind a handwritten letter before the incident, in which he alleged long-term workplace bullying, isolation, and verbal abuse by colleagues. He reportedly stated that he had been publicly reprimanded and even physically assaulted, leading to severe psychological distress.
In the alleged letter, Zhang also accused certain teachers and school administrators of responsibility for his situation, claiming he was repeatedly targeted over work-related disputes and excluded from professional communication groups. He said the ongoing pressure had pushed him into a mental health crisis.
Local education authorities in Yao’an County have confirmed the incident and said relevant departments have launched an investigation. They also stated that normal teaching activities at the school remain unaffected.
Meanwhile, online discussions have widely debated the issue of workplace and institutional bullying, with many calling for stronger safeguards for teachers’ mental health and clearer mechanisms to address internal disputes in schools.
