Three individuals who attempted to evade police in a high-speed escape spanning about 135 kilometres from Serdang, Selangor, to Alor Gajah were arrested after crashing and being found with drugs.
The incident occurred at about 8pm when a Honda City carrying two men and a woman was spotted behaving suspiciously at the Serdang Rest and Service Area (R&R). Police patrol units from the Serdang District Police Headquarters then ordered the vehicle to stop.
Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said the suspects refused to comply and instead sped off, triggering a pursuit involving four patrol cars across multiple areas before entering Alor Gajah.
The chase ended at a traffic light junction in Sungai Petai when the suspects lost control of their vehicle and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Police said the car was driven by a 41-year-old woman, with two male passengers aged 23 and 43. A search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic packet containing suspected heroin weighing 2.16 grams and another packet believed to be syabu weighing 0.65 grams.
Investigations revealed that one of the male suspects had 24 prior criminal and drug-related records, while another had eight. The woman also had two prior drug-related offences.
Urine screening showed two of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, while another tested positive for morphine.
All three have been remanded for four days from April 30 to May 3 to assist investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, they face imprisonment between two and five years and whipping.
Police have urged members of the public with relevant information to contact the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters.
