A five-vehicle pile-up occurred yesterday afternoon on the Sabah Papar-Penampang highway near Kampung Kawang, with one shocking moment seeing a truck land directly on top of a compact Bezza car. The terrifying incident, which took place around 4:00 PM, left motorists below in panic, though fortunately no serious injuries were reported.
Eyewitnesses said the right lane was the site of the chain collision involving a total of five vehicles: one trailer, three Mitsubishi Triton trucks, and a Bezza sedan. The Bezza was severely damaged as the truck came to rest on top of it, trapping the driver briefly before they were able to escape.
Papar Fire and Rescue Department chief Rozlan confirmed that emergency teams were dispatched at 4:04 PM to the scene, approximately 22 kilometers along the highway, to assist those involved.
While the Bezza driver sustained minor injuries, initial treatment by medical personnel was sufficient, and the driver declined further hospital care. The other drivers were unharmed. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
