Police are tracking down three masked men believed to be involved in an attempted robbery at a pawn shop in Puchong Prima on Monday.
Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, who is the Subang Jaya district police chief, said authorities received a report regarding the incident from the manager of the premises.
According to him, the three suspects were wearing face coverings and armed with objects resembling machetes during the incident.
“The suspects attempted to enter the counter area of the premises but failed.
“All three of them then fled the scene and the complainant activated the security alarm shortly after,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Police are investigating the case under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
Wan Azlan urged members of the public with information related to the incident to come forward and assist investigations by contacting the Subang Jaya district control centre at 03-78627222.
He also assured that the identities of informants would be kept confidential.
Earlier, videos showing three men dressed in black entering a premises believed to be involved in an attempted robbery went viral on social media.
Another clip circulating online showed the suspects entering the premises before quickly fleeing the location after the attempt failed.
