Chinese Crew Member Stabbed In Ship Fight Off Selangor Waters, Suspect Arrested

Date:

A Chinese national was allegedly stabbed by a co-worker during a violent altercation aboard a vessel in waters off Selangor on Sunday night, prompting a maritime medical evacuation operation.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Selangor received an emergency request for a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) at about 8.52pm after the 47-year-old victim sustained serious injuries.

According to Selangor Maritime Director Kepten Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh, the incident involved a fight between two crew members onboard the ship located about four nautical miles off Tanjung Rhu.

“The fight resulted in one crew member being stabbed in the abdomen,” he said in a statement.

The MMEA vessel Penggalang 41 arrived at the location at about 11.51pm to carry out the evacuation operation.

Following the incident, a 36-year-old Chinese crew member was detained on suspicion of involvement in attempted murder.

Both the suspect and the injured victim were later transported to the jetty of the Marine Police Force (PPM) in Pulau Indah, arriving at about 1.15am.

The injured man was subsequently handed over to an ambulance and taken to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang for treatment.

Meanwhile, the suspect was handed over to maritime investigators in Selangor for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
