TNB Pledges RM25 Million Sponsorship To Malaysian Hockey Confederation Until 2030

Date:

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (KHM) has received a major boost after Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) agreed to continue its strategic partnership with a RM25 million sponsorship package over five years, from 2026 to 2030.

The development is seen as positive news for Malaysian hockey as it aims to strengthen player development programmes and ensure the national squad remains competitive on the international stage.

KHM president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said TNB’s continued commitment reflects strong corporate confidence in the potential of hockey in Malaysia.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to TNB and its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul Ahmad, because without their support it would have been impossible for us to achieve what we hope for,” he said.

He added that the new agreement, signed during a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, will provide RM25 million over the next five years, with the funds expected to be utilised effectively to improve national hockey performance.

Subahan noted that the latest sponsorship represents an increase compared to the previous agreement, with TNB now contributing RM5 million annually instead of RM4 million.

“Yes, there is an increase. Previously it was RM4 million per year, now it is RM5 million per year,” he said.

He explained that the funding will support grassroots development, domestic leagues, national team preparations and youth training programmes.

Since beginning its partnership with KHM in 2006, TNB has reportedly contributed more than RM60 million towards hockey development in Malaysia, making it one of the sport’s biggest corporate supporters in the country.
