A woman in Makassar has gone viral on social media after she was seen transporting an electric motorcycle using another motorcycle along a busy public road.
The dangerous act, which reportedly took place on crowded streets in Makassar, Indonesia, sparked widespread reactions from netizens after videos of the incident circulated online.
Following the viral footage, local authorities began efforts to trace the individual involved. However, the woman, identified as Nurhidayah Yunus, voluntarily appeared at the Makassar Police Headquarters before being summoned by officers.
“I came on my own initiative and apologise to the public, especially the people of Makassar, for my actions that recently went viral. I realise what I did was wrong and I am prepared to accept any punishment,” Tribun Timur quoted her as saying on Wednesday.
The video was reportedly recorded by another road user while Nurhidayah was travelling along Jalan Sungai Saddang and Jalan Veteran Utara in Makassar district.
Footage showed the electric motorcycle positioned between the rider and passenger on a Yamaha Mio GT motorcycle without being secured with any safety straps, raising concerns over road safety and the risk posed to other motorists.
