A woman has claimed she nearly became a victim of an alleged hypnosis scam after being approached by an unknown individual near a row of shoplots in Setia Alam recently.
The incident was shared through a Threads post by a user identified as “putri.nouha”, who said she managed to lock her car doors just before the suspicious woman approached her vehicle.
“I almost got hypnotised. Luckily I managed to lock the doors in time. Those in the Setia Alam area, please be careful. If you see this woman, lock your car doors quickly,” she wrote.
The post also included a video showing a woman standing directly in front of the car door while glancing around the area as if observing her surroundings.
The footage later went viral on social media and triggered concern among nearby residents, with many urging the public to remain alert in public areas and parking lots.
Several social media users also shared similar experiences and reminded others not to easily open their doors to strangers.
“Nowadays there are all kinds of modus operandi. It’s better to check through the camera or window before opening the door,” one user commented.
Another user questioned how such alleged hypnosis tactics work, while others speculated that the woman may have been acting as part of a planned scheme targeting unsuspecting victims.
The incident has once again sparked discussions online regarding personal safety and awareness of potential scam tactics in crowded urban areas.
