A man believed to be the husband of a headmistress at a primary school here has been detained to assist investigations into allegations of peeping involving female pupils near the school toilet area.
Gua Musang district police chief Sik Choon Foo said the 60-year-old suspect has been remanded for seven days starting yesterday until Saturday.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
According to a source, the elderly man was allegedly frequently seen behaving suspiciously near the pupils’ toilets before several female students reportedly became aware of his actions.
The incidents are said to have triggered concern among students and parents, who feared for the safety of children within the school compound.
The source claimed the first incident took place at around 2.15pm on April 7 near the school canteen area.
“Four female pupils informed teachers that they heard a girl screaming from inside the female toilet,” the source said.
The students also allegedly claimed they saw two Year Two female pupils inside the toilet before noticing a man leaving the area.
The same individual was also reportedly seen lingering near the school surau in early May during KAFA religious classes.
According to the source, the man allegedly peeped at female students who were taking ablution before prayers.
Following the incidents, a police report was lodged to allow further investigations to be carried out.
The case has sparked concern among parents over student safety and supervision within school premises.
