Motorcyclist Killed After Colliding With Lorry In Tawau

A 43-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding allegedly lost control and veered into the opposite lane before colliding with a lorry along Jalan Timur here on Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred at around 3.30pm and left the victim, who worked as a lorry attendant, with severe injuries to his head and legs.

Tawau District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Rosdi Mat Jusoh said police received a report regarding the crash involving a rigid lorry and a motorcycle.

Initial investigations found that the lorry was driven by a 62-year-old local man who was travelling from Air Panas towards Eastern Engineering along Jalan Timur.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding his motorcycle from the opposite direction when he allegedly lost control and entered the lorry’s lane.

“The impact left the victim with severe injuries to his head and legs. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” Rosdi said in a statement on Tuesday.

The victim’s body was subsequently taken to Tawau Hospital for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
