Police are investigating allegations involving a district police chief in Sarawak accused of sexually harassing a female subordinate.
It is understood that the female police officer lodged a police report yesterday, claiming she had been subjected to repeated acts of sexual harassment by the senior officer.
Sarawak police commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that authorities had received the report and that further investigations are currently underway.
“The investigation is being conducted under Section 354 of the Penal Code,” he said briefly when contacted on Monday.
Sources claimed the incidents allegedly began last month after the female officer was assigned to a district police headquarters (IPD) in the state.
The officer also alleged that she had been invited to the suspect’s residence and was subjected to sexual harassment there, with similar incidents allegedly occurring at the workplace.
The case has drawn public attention as investigations continue into the allegations involving the senior police official.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the identity of the officer involved or the status of any disciplinary action.
