Foreign ministers from the United States, Japan, Australia and India are set to gather in New Delhi on May 26 for a high-level meeting of the Quad alliance, according to Japan’s foreign ministry on Friday.
The strategic grouping, known as the Quad, continues to play a major role in regional security and diplomatic cooperation across the Indo-Pacific region amid growing geopolitical tensions.
Japan’s top diplomat, Toshimitsu Motegi, is scheduled to visit India for a three-day trip beginning Monday to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will also travel to India starting Saturday after completing his visit to Sweden for the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting, the US State Department confirmed.
The upcoming talks are expected to focus on regional security, economic cooperation and strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific, as the four nations continue strengthening ties through the Quad partnership.
The Quad alliance, which includes the United States, India, Japan and Australia, has increasingly become a key diplomatic platform in addressing issues ranging from maritime security to economic resilience and regional stability.
