A businessman from Taman Tunku Haminah here has pleaded for an end to repeated harassment by loan sharks after his home was targeted in a red paint attack on Saturday.
The victim, Tan Lee Ling, 53, said he only discovered the incident at about 7am when he was preparing to leave for work.
He said the walls of his house and two cars parked inside the compound were splashed with red paint.
“The loan sharks also left a threatening note, warning that they would burn down the house if the debt was not settled,” he claimed.
“What is shocking is that they even said they were not afraid of us reporting to the police because they allegedly have ‘friends’,” he added.
Tan, who runs an ironworks business, said his eldest son, 33, is believed to have been involved in long-standing debts with loan sharks.
He said he had previously settled his son’s debts several times over the past decade, with each payment amounting to about RM10,000, bringing the total to an estimated RM400,000.
“I could no longer take it and asked him to leave the house a few years ago. Since then, we rarely communicate,” he said.
He added that he is no longer able to continue paying off the debts and does not know the exact amount his son owes.
