Man Hospitalised With Concussion After Violent Parking Dispute Outside Breakfast Shop

Date:

An elderly man was hospitalised with a concussion after a heated parking dispute outside a breakfast shop in Taichung turned violent, leaving him slammed onto the road after being forcefully pushed by another motorcyclist.

The incident happened at around 6am on May 22 outside a breakfast outlet along Nantun Road in the Nantun district.

According to reports, the elderly man had allegedly parked his motorcycle diagonally outside the shop, triggering dissatisfaction from another rider who arrived shortly afterwards to buy breakfast.

Witnesses said tensions quickly escalated into a public argument over the parking arrangement.

During the confrontation, the elderly man was seen pushing the other rider’s motorcycle first.

Moments later, the younger man allegedly retaliated by shoving the elderly victim with significant force, causing him to fall backwards violently and hit the back of his head directly on the ground.

Despite the dangerous fall, the suspect reportedly remained at the scene, parked his motorcycle nearby and continued ordering breakfast.

Shockingly, after briefly leaving the area, the man allegedly returned about three minutes later to photograph the elderly man’s motorcycle registration plate before continuing the argument.

The public altercation reportedly lasted nearly 10 minutes before the suspect eventually left with his food.

Family members later revealed that the elderly man initially chose not to lodge a police report after returning home.

However, his condition reportedly worsened over time, with the victim later struggling to speak properly before being rushed to hospital.

Doctors subsequently confirmed he had suffered a concussion and required hospitalisation for further treatment.

The victim’s family later appealed for help online and criticised the suspect’s aggressive behaviour, expressing concern that the man could potentially harm others in the future.

Many locals also pointed out that parking around the breakfast shop is often difficult due to limited space.

According to Taichung Police Department, investigators have already identified the suspect involved in the incident.

Police said the case is currently being handled as a dispute arising from parking issues, and further legal action will depend on whether the elderly victim decides to formally file assault charges after being discharged from hospital.
