34-Year-Old Man Dies After Yamaha Y15 Plunges Into Drain In Bachok

Date:

A 34-year-old man was killed after the Yamaha Y15 motorcycle he was riding is believed to have skidded off the road before plunging into a drain about two metres deep along Jalan Tawang, Kampung Tawang, on Monday night.

The incident, which happened at around 9pm, also left a 29-year-old woman injured.

According to Bachok Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Tuan Mohd Sukri Tuan Hassan, emergency responders received a distress call at 9.08pm before a fire engine and seven firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The rescue team arrived roughly 11 minutes later and discovered the motorcycle had crashed into the drain without involving any other vehicles.

“The incident involved two victims, a man and a woman,” he said in a statement.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the male rider was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel before his body was handed over to the police for further action.

Authorities said the operation was brought under control at 9.32pm and fully concluded about an hour later.

Road accidents involving motorcycles continue to raise concern among Malaysians, especially on dark or poorly lit village roads where riders are exposed to higher risks during night travel.
