Spilled Drink On Public Transport Sparks Debate Over Basic Manners

Date:

A social media post expressing frustration over a spilled drink on public transport has sparked heated online debate, with many netizens criticising a perceived lack of basic manners among commuters.

In a Threads post, the user shared photos and videos showing liquid spilled across the floor of a crowded train coach, allegedly causing several passengers to get their shoes and trousers wet after stepping into the mess.

The user urged public transport passengers to be more responsible, saying it was disappointing that no one attempted to clean up the spill after it happened.

“To all public transport users, please be responsible and have some common sense,” the post read.

“It’s really sad to see innocent people end up with wet trousers and shoes because of spilled water. And after it was spilled, no one even bothered to pick it up.”

The user added that at minimum, the spill should have been cleaned or wiped up with tissue to avoid inconvenience to others.

The post quickly went viral, drawing a wave of reactions from netizens who expressed frustration over inconsiderate behaviour in shared public spaces.

Many also questioned why drinks were brought onto public transport in the first place, noting that food and beverages are prohibited on certain services.

Others highlighted that the issue was not only the accidental spill but also the lack of responsibility shown afterwards.

One user said they had experienced a similar incident where a passenger left the train without apologising after spilling coffee on others.

Another commenter stressed that such incidents are exactly why eating and drinking rules exist on public transport.

A different user suggested reporting the incident to RapidKL so cleaning crews could be dispatched, adding that bystanders should not simply ignore such situations.
