Gold Shop Robbery Panic Ends In Embarrassing Twist After Man Walks Into Glass Wall

Date:

A dramatic scene at a gold shop in Thailand sparked fears of a robbery after a man was found bleeding inside the premises — only for police to later discover he had accidentally walked straight into a glass wall.

The incident happened at around 11.55am in Sattahip district, Chonburi province, after police received an emergency report about an alleged robbery at a gold shop located in Moo 6, Sattahip Subdistrict.

A large team of police officers, investigators and administrative personnel rushed to the scene fully armed, believing an armed robbery was underway.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 49-year-old man identified as Thavisak, also known as “Ped”, lying injured in a pool of blood inside the shop.

The man, who works as a labourer at Sahachai market, suffered a deep cut on his right wrist caused by shattered glass. Rescue workers later transported him to Sattahip Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, gold shop employees were reportedly left shaken and traumatised by the chaotic incident.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kosol Sila later revealed that officers managed to reach the location within three minutes after receiving the emergency call due to fears that it involved a robbery.

However, after reviewing CCTV footage from inside the shop, investigators discovered the incident was actually an accident.

The footage reportedly showed the man entering the gold shop and saluting the employees before mistakenly walking directly into a side glass panel, believing it was an open exit door.

The impact caused the glass to shatter instantly, leaving him seriously injured.

Police have since recorded the incident in the official police log and are expected to summon the gold shop owner to discuss compensation related to the damage caused.

Authorities also said the injured man would undergo a drug test and have his personal details recorded once he recovers from his injuries.

If any offences are discovered, further legal action may be taken against him.
