Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has denied allegations that he paid RM8.5 million to take over Parti Bersama (BERSAMA) from its founder, Tan Gin Theam.
In a post on X, the former Pandan MP said the takeover was carried out without any cash transaction between him and Tan, describing the claims as defamatory and spread by cyber troopers.
He added that the accusations were baseless and left the matter to divine judgment, saying that those responsible would eventually face consequences.
Rafizi also claimed that Tan had been emotional during the transition of the party’s leadership, which he said was handed over to him and former PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
He said Tan had only requested that the party be managed responsibly and used to better serve ordinary Malaysians.
Rafizi further stated that Parti Bersama has now surpassed 20,000 members, adding that the party is not focused on seeking power in the near future.
He said both he and Nik Nazmi had decided to step away from established political structures to build a platform aimed at representing ordinary citizens and future-focused policies.
For the coming period, he said the focus would be on introducing the party and its “12 Agenda” to a wider audience.
He also clarified that while anyone could apply to become a candidate under the party, selections would go through a screening and evaluation process by a dedicated committee.
Applications, he said, would be opened soon, with candidates required to undergo an introduction process, including presenting themselves on camera.
Rafizi stressed that everyone would have an equal opportunity, adding that personal connections to him or Nik Nazmi would not be a requirement to stand as a candidate.
