No Truth In Claims Nurul Izzah Will Join BERSAMA, Says Rafizi

Date:

Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has denied claims that PKR Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar will be joining Parti Bersama Malaysia (BERSAMA), dismissing the rumours as baseless speculation.

The former Pandan MP said the allegation was nothing more than unfounded talk circulating online, insisting that Nurul Izzah would not be joining the party.

He made the brief remarks via a post on X, responding to ongoing speculation following internal changes within PKR’s election machinery leadership.

The rumours emerged after Nurul Izzah’s previous role as PKR Election Director was reassigned to Naib Presiden PKR Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, following a Political Bureau meeting earlier this week.

Party sources said the reshuffle was part of a broader strategic alignment to strengthen coordination and preparation ahead of the next general election, while Nurul Izzah is expected to focus on other strategic organisational roles within PKR.

In the same updates, Rafizi also addressed separate allegations claiming he had paid RM8.5 million to acquire BERSAMA from its founder, Tan Gin Theam.

He denied any cash transaction took place, describing the accusation as defamatory and spread by online cybertroopers.

Rafizi added that Tan was emotional during the handover of the party, which he said was done alongside former PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

He said the party now has over 20,000 members and is not currently focused on power as its immediate objective.

Instead, Rafizi said the focus is on promoting BERSAMA and its “12 Agenda” to the public, with plans to open applications for candidates in the near future.

He also stressed that all applicants would have equal opportunity to stand as candidates, with selections subject to a screening and evaluation process by a dedicated committee.
