A woman was arrested on Tuesday over suspected involvement in a mule bank account case.
Lawas district police chief DSP Liong Tindan said the 22-year-old private sector worker was detained at about 5.23pm.
He said the suspect was linked to two separate police reports lodged in Penang and Sandakan, Sabah in October 2023, which are being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
Based on investigations, both victims had made financial transactions into several bank accounts, including the suspect’s account. The first victim from Penang reportedly suffered losses of RM4,399, while a second victim from Sandakan lost RM5,000.
In a separate case, five men were also arrested for drug-related offences in several operations conducted in Lawas.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 52, were detained for suspected drug abuse.
Police said no illegal items or drugs were found on them during body checks.
However, urine screening tests showed all five tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
