Trump Insists Iran Nuclear Deal Must Be On US Terms, White House Says

Date:

The United States has made clear that any potential nuclear agreement with Iran will only proceed on terms set by Washington, following a high-level meeting chaired by President Donald Trump in the White House Situation Room.

A White House official said Trump would only pursue a deal that aligns with American interests and meets what he described as strict red lines, according to Anadolu Ajansi.

The official said the meeting, which lasted about two hours, reaffirmed the administration’s firm position on Iran’s nuclear programme.

He stressed that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon under any circumstances.

The comments come as US-Iran negotiations continue, with Washington insisting that any agreement must satisfy conditions set by the US president.

Earlier, Trump said on his Truth Social platform that he would hold meetings at the White House to make a final decision on a proposed deal aimed at ending tensions with Iran.

He also outlined key elements expected in the proposal, including Iran’s commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for unrestricted commercial shipping.

The developments highlight ongoing diplomatic tensions as both sides attempt to navigate long-standing disputes over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
