A man who was reported missing after stepping out for a bathroom break was later found safe and sound, fast asleep beside a neighbour’s washing machine in Kampung Sira, Padawan.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a team from the Siburan fire station was deployed after receiving an emergency call at about 4.39am.
According to the victim’s brother-in-law, the man had been attending a church reception the night before and had stepped away from the gathering after eating and drinking.
He reportedly went to answer nature’s call just about eight metres from a relative’s house but failed to return, prompting concern among family members.
Fearing something had gone wrong, relatives alerted authorities, leading to a brief search and rescue operation.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the “missing” man was discovered around 6am, peacefully asleep beside a neighbour’s washing machine.
Bomba confirmed that the man was unharmed, and the operation was concluded at 6.09am after the situation was resolved without incident.
