A hidden attempt to store 825 litres of diesel illegally was uncovered after enforcement officers from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Kelantan raided a secluded stor near Kampung Surau Lama Geting in Pengkalan Kubor on Friday.
The raid, conducted at about 5.45pm under Ops Tiris, led to the seizure of diesel worth more than RM4,000, believed to have been kept for suspected diversion activities.
Kelantan KPDN director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said the operation was carried out by the ministry’s Special Intelligence and Operations Unit (URTK) with assistance from police units including the Narcotics Division of the Tumpat district police headquarters and the Marine Police Force.
He said the location, situated near an ice factory and opposite a cemetery, was believed to have been used by syndicates to conceal controlled goods and avoid detection by authorities.
Further inspection uncovered 33 plastic containers holding 25 litres each of liquid suspected to be diesel, bringing the total seized quantity to 825 litres.
All seized items have been confiscated and investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals believed to be involved in the illegal activity.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for storing controlled goods without valid permit or licence.
KPDN stressed that enforcement actions will continue to be intensified to curb leakage and misuse of controlled subsidised items in order to protect public interest and national resources.
