A man is believed to have fatally hacked his wife and left their child seriously injured in a brutal attack in Dusun Manurung, Tobadak Village, Mamuju Tengah Regency, West Sulawesi, Indonesia on Wednesday.
Following the incident, authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the attack, sparking concern among local residents.
Local police chief AKBP Hengky Kristanto Abadi said there were claims from villagers suggesting the suspect may be suffering from mental health issues and was involved in black magic practices.
However, he stressed that these claims have not been verified and investigations are ongoing to determine the real motive behind the violent act.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been taken by family members for burial arrangements, while the injured child is receiving treatment at a hospital in Polewali Mandar Regency.
