The Perak branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has seized a tanker lorry and diesel worth RM202,211.20 during a raid at a fishing jetty in Hutan Melintang early yesterday morning.
State KPDN director Kamalludin Ismail said the 3am operation was conducted following a week-long surveillance on suspicious movements involving tanker lorries in the area.
He said enforcement officers detected a tanker lorry believed to be transporting 21,840 litres of diesel from the Klang Valley during the raid.
Investigations found discrepancies in the documentation provided, raising suspicions over the supply chain linked to the fuel distribution.
Two local men, aged 60 and 30, identified as the site owner and lorry driver, were detained to assist investigations.
The site owner was also found to have failed to produce valid authorisation documents from the Controller of Supplies for dealings involving controlled goods.
Authorities seized a 27-tonne tanker lorry, the diesel consignment, and several related documents for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.
