Barisan Nasional (BN) will be contesting all 36 state seats in the upcoming Negri Sembilan state election, says Umno state chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias.
He said the party has prepared a list of candidates that will be submitted to Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for review and approval.
According to him, the selection includes a mix of new and experienced candidates, with emphasis on youth and women from various educational backgrounds.
He added that seat negotiations involving BN component parties MCA and MIC are also part of the ongoing discussions, while final allocations will be decided in an upcoming meeting.
“All matters regarding seat distribution, including those involving Umno such as Jeram Padang, will be finalised soon,” he said when met at a wedding reception at Masjid Datuk Undang Luak Jelebu.
He noted that the decision-making process is still ongoing and will be confirmed in the next party meeting.
The Negri Sembilan state assembly was dissolved yesterday, clearing the way for the 16th state election.
The dissolution was announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun during a special press conference late Thursday night.
In the previous state election, Pakatan Harapan won 17 seats, BN secured 14 seats, while Perikatan Nasional obtained five seats.
