Mukah Police Detain Suspect Over Drug Offence After Urine Test

A 31-year-old unemployed local man has been arrested on suspicion of drug abuse in an operation carried out in Kampung Jebungan, Mukah, on Friday morning.

Mukah District Police Chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect was detained at around 9.30am in front of an unnumbered house by officers from the district narcotics investigation division.

He said a search conducted at the scene did not uncover any illegal items, and the suspect was later taken to the Mukah police headquarters for further action.

A urine screening subsequently confirmed that the suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Police also revealed that the suspect has five prior drug-related offences on record.

He is currently being remanded at the Mukah police lock-up pending completion of investigations.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to combating drug-related activities in the district and urged the public to provide information to assist enforcement efforts.
