PM Anwar Directs Agencies To Tackle Illegal Foreign Business Activities

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed all relevant ministries and agencies to take firm and comprehensive action to curb illegal business activities involving foreigners, including misuse of local business licences and visas.

Anwar said the issue cannot be handled by a single agency alone, stressing the need for coordinated enforcement across multiple government bodies.

He added that immediate action is required following rising cases of foreigners allegedly operating businesses using tourist or student visas, as well as abusing permits and licences belonging to Malaysians.

“The proposed measures must be implemented immediately. All ministries and agencies involved — including LHDN, Customs, KPDN, local authorities, MCMC and Bank Negara Malaysia — must work together,” he said.

He also called on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Bank Negara Malaysia to examine e-commerce platforms and financial transaction trails, including Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) compliance.

Anwar made the remarks during the Monthly Assembly of the Communications Ministry today, where he emphasised that enforcement must be strengthened to safeguard the country’s economic integrity.
