Man Suffers 80% Burns In LPG Fire At Apartment

A 29-year-old man suffered severe injuries after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder fire broke out at an apartment unit in Taman Penampang on Sunday.

The victim is reported to have sustained burns covering around 80 per cent of his body following the blaze that originated in the kitchen area of the residence.

The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Penampang said it received an emergency call at about 11.15am before deploying six firefighters along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team to the scene.

Firefighters administered initial treatment at the location before the victim was rushed to hospital for further medical care due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that the fire was brought under control and inspections were carried out to ensure no further hazards remained at the premises.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and the extent of damages.
