A 45-year-old music teacher from a secondary school in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, has been charged at the Klang Sessions Court with 14 counts of sexually assaulting six female students.
Idi Johan Zohdi pleaded not guilty after all charges were read before Judge Sharifah Hascindie Syed Omar, according to Harian Metro.
The accused is alleged to have committed physical sexual assault against six girls aged 15 in multiple locations, including a classroom, storeroom, house and car, between January 2025 and February this year.
The offences were charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
He was also charged under Section 16(1) of the same Act for allegedly abusing his position of trust as the victims’ teacher, an offence that carries an additional jail term of up to five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Nor Suhaili Abu Bakar proposed bail of RM20,000 and requested that the accused report monthly to the police.
However, defence lawyers representing the accused sought a lower bail amount, citing his clean criminal record and family responsibilities.
The court set bail at RM30,000 for all 14 charges, and ordered the accused to surrender his passport and report to the police on a monthly basis.
Case mention has been fixed for July 30.
