A senior citizen had a frightening early morning experience after his home in Felda Tersang 3 was destroyed in a fire incident today.
The 65-year-old homeowner, however, managed to escape safely and was reported to be unharmed in the blaze.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Assistant Director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said emergency services received a distress call at 5.58am before firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
He said a total of eight firefighters from the Raub Fire and Rescue Station were deployed, assisted by five personnel from Sungai Koyan and one member from the Tersang Volunteer Fire Brigade, arriving at the location in three fire engines.
According to him, the fire involved a permanent residential structure, which suffered an estimated 90 per cent destruction.
Firefighting operations were carried out using a combination of hose lines and water supply from the fire engine tanks to bring the blaze under control.
He added that the fire was successfully contained by 6.44am before firefighters conducted thorough inspection work to ensure no remaining hotspots that could trigger a rekindling of the fire.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
