Teenagers Among Four Arrested For Reckless Motorcycle Wheelies In KL

Date:

Four individuals, including three teenagers, have been arrested by police following viral videos showing dangerous “wheelie” motorcycle stunts performed in the capital and uploaded to social media.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said all suspects were detained at their respective homes between 12.30am and 1.30am today following intelligence and operations conducted by the KL Traffic Intelligence/Operations Unit.

He said the first case involved a 47-second video posted as a Facebook reel, showing two riders performing wheelies around Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and several other locations between 2am and 2.30am on Saturday.

Police arrested three locals, including two teenagers aged 17 and 24, with one of the minors identified as a pillion rider involved in the stunt.

The second case involved a 45-second video showing another rider performing similar stunts before crashing at several locations including Jalan Ampang and Jalan Raja Laut on Sunday between 2am and 2.30am.

A 18-year-old male teenager was subsequently detained in connection with the second incident.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding.

Police have warned against illegal street stunts, stressing that such acts endanger both riders and other road users, while urging witnesses to come forward to assist investigations.
