Man Arrested After 100mph Police Chase With Four Children In Car

Date:

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Arkansas after allegedly leading state troopers on a high-speed chase while his four young children were inside the vehicle.

Tyrice Fletcher was taken into custody following a pursuit that began in Camden on May 24 after he was allegedly seen driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph, according to the Arkansas State Police (ASP).

Police said an officer attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, unaware that children were inside the car at the time.

Authorities said the chase escalated into a “lengthy pursuit” during which the vehicle allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic before the driver lost control, left the roadway, struck a light pole and overturned in a yard. The car came to rest dangerously close to live electrical wires.

Dashcam footage released by ASP showed the vehicle being pursued across multiple roads, though the moment of the crash was not included in the clip.

Following the crash, officers are seen approaching the overturned vehicle, with one trooper reportedly holding a firearm as he moved closer to the scene.

Police said a four-month-old infant was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was rescued by responding officers.

Three other children, all under the age of six, were also found inside the vehicle and safely removed by police.

Footage later showed officers caring for the children at the scene, including one holding a toddler and another reassuring a child about the safety of her sibling.

ASP officials condemned the incident, with Colonel Mike Hagar saying he could not understand why a parent would flee law enforcement while endangering children in the vehicle.

Fletcher now faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing, child endangerment, possession of a defaced firearm, reckless driving, drug-related offences, and multiple traffic violations.

Police said Fletcher was seen lying on a seat in custody and was unable to identify the infant when questioned.

It remains unclear whether he has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
