The Sarawak Immigration Department has detained 37 immigrants during a two-day enforcement operation carried out across several districts in the state.
In a statement, the department said all those arrested were found to have either overstayed their permitted period in the country or did not possess valid travel documents.
The operation, conducted from 9am on June 11 until 4am on June 12, covered multiple locations in Kuching, Samarahan and Lundu involving 13 identified hotspots.
Authorities said the enforcement exercise focused on areas known for the presence of foreign nationals, including Kota Sentosa, Bintawa, Samariang New Township, Tabuan Jaya, Kota Samarahan, Lundu and Pending.
Checks were also carried out at premises such as online gambling outlets, restaurants, rented housing, car wash centres, factories and entertainment venues.
A total of 122 immigrants were inspected throughout the operation for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Those detained are currently being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1)(c) of the Act.
The department said enforcement actions will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb immigration offences and ensure compliance with national laws.
