Man Suffers Burns In Fire That Destroys Three Houses And Surau In Rantau Panjang

A man sustained burns to 20 per cent of his body after a fire destroyed three houses and partially damaged a surau in Kampung Lubok Setol, Rantau Panjang, late last night.

The 31-year-old victim suffered burns on both legs in the 11.45pm incident before receiving treatment at Hospital Pasir Mas.

Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call at 11.51pm and immediately deployed 11 firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, the team found the fire already raging, with three houses completely destroyed while a nearby surau suffered around 10 per cent damage.

During firefighting operations, authorities were informed that a man had sustained burn injuries but had managed to exit the premises on his own before seeking medical attention.

The blaze also destroyed a Proton Waja car parked in the area, adding to the extent of losses in the incident.

Firefighters later brought the situation under control after preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
