Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has welcomed the formation of a new Malay-based political party, saying it should help strengthen unity rather than create division among the community.
He said any individual or political leader is free to establish a new political platform as long as it contributes towards uniting Malays and supporting national interests.
“We welcome any individual or leader, as long as we can unite our thinking and avoid further divisions among ourselves,” he said.
Zahid added that regardless of the platform used, it should ultimately support the national agenda, the Islamic agenda and the interests of the Malay community.
“If it helps unite our actions in support of the national agenda, the Islamic agenda and the interests of our community, then, God willing, we can lend our support,” he said after attending the Zikir Peringatan Haul Asmaulhusna 2026 programme at Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Bandar Dato’ Onn.
He also said differing political views should be channelled constructively to strengthen national unity while respecting the rights of other races and religions in the country.
Zahid, who is also Umno president, said the party’s Rumah Bangsa initiative has contributed positively to fostering unity.
Meanwhile, Gerakan Reset Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin previously announced that the movement would operate under a newly formed political party known as Parti Wawasan Negara.
He said the party would serve as a platform for unity and work with PAS and other like-minded parties to build broader political cooperation.
