A husband was arrested after allegedly threatening his wife and destroying her food business supplies in a fit of jealousy after discovering she had been communicating with another man, according to Indonesian news portal detikSulsel.
The suspect, identified as RN, 36, was detained by police in Gowa district last Saturday after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Rappocini Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief, Iptu Muh Ali Djaras, said officers were able to identify and track down the suspect through footage circulating online.
The incident reportedly took place at around 6am local time on Saturday.
“RN became jealous after checking the victim’s mobile phone and finding messages showing communication between his wife and another man.
“Our preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect’s actions were motivated by jealousy after learning about the victim’s contact with another male individual,” he said.
Enraged by the discovery, the suspect allegedly approached his wife while she was conducting her business and grabbed a plastic kettle containing cake batter before throwing it at her.
Fearing for her safety, the victim fled into a nearby shop lot close to her business premises.
The suspect then allegedly poured diesel fuel into a bucket containing the victim’s cake batter before fleeing the scene.
