Muhyiddin: No Party Can Remove Bersatu From PN Unilaterally

Date:

The Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu) has decided to remain within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and will contest the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections under the coalition’s logo.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that no party has the authority to unilaterally remove Bersatu from PN.

“According to the constitution, there are provisions that must be followed, including the requirement for consensus. This means no single party can make such a decision on its own — all parties must agree.

“That further strengthens our position as a member party within Perikatan Nasional,” he told reporters after chairing the party’s Supreme Leadership Council meeting at Bersatu headquarters on Tuesday.

Also present at the meeting were Bersatu vice-presidents Radzi Jidin and Ahmad Faizal Azumu, as well as secretary-general Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Muhyiddin said preparations for both state elections had already begun, with party leaders actively visiting constituencies identified for contesting.

“Our leaders have started work and have visited nearly all the areas we have identified to contest based on previous agreements.

“We do not know whether other parties intend to contest those seats, that is their decision. However, Bersatu has already made decisions regarding the seats we will contest in Johor and Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

He also announced that Bersatu’s Johor election machinery will be officially launched in Bakri, Muar, on June 21.

Muhyiddin added that the party is expected to unveil several high-profile candidates who have already been identified and approved to contest under the Bersatu banner.

“With organised preparations and a structured campaign strategy, we believe we can achieve victory in both the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections,” he said.
