PN Reshuffle Not A Surprise Says Kelantan Bersatu Chief

Date:

Kelantan Bersatu has said it is not surprised by Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) latest leadership reshuffle, which saw Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin removed from key positions within the coalition.

Kelantan Bersatu chief Datuk Kamaruddin Md Nor said the decision was already anticipated and did not come as a shock to the state leadership.

“I am not surprised by PN’s decision last night as it was already expected. However, we will wait for an official statement from Bersatu headquarters regarding the matter,” he told the New Straits Times.

He added that it would be inappropriate for state-level leaders to comment further as the issue is being handled by the party’s central leadership.

“At state level, we are only waiting for further developments and instructions from headquarters following the latest decision by PN,” he said.

Kamaruddin reiterated that Kelantan Bersatu would defer to the party leadership before making any assessment or issuing further comments on the reshuffle.

The leadership changes were announced following a PN restructuring exercise ahead of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.

PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar reportedly said Azmin was removed as deputy secretary-general, while Radzi was relieved of his role as election director-general.

He added that the restructuring was effective immediately as part of preparations for the upcoming state polls.

Radzi is expected to be replaced by Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as the new election director-general, according to the announcement.
