The Labuan Corporation Enforcement Department has launched its first Operation Banteras Aktiviti Haram (BAH) 2026, targeting business premises suspected of operating without valid licences in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The integrated enforcement operation involved 53 officers and personnel from multiple agencies, including the Labuan Corporation Licensing Department, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Authorities conducted inspections at six business premises located along Jalan Bunga Melati, Tang Kah Hwa, Jalan Ujong Pasir and Jalan OKK Awang Besar.
During the operation, enforcement officers seized various business-related items believed to be relevant to ongoing investigations.
A spokesperson for the Labuan Corporation said two compounds were issued under the Trades Licensing Ordinance (Sabah Cap. 144) for offences involving the operation of businesses without valid licences.
Investigators also detected indications of possible online gambling activities at several of the premises inspected, prompting further investigations by the relevant authorities.
The operation forms part of a broader effort by the Labuan Corporation to strengthen compliance with business regulations and curb illegal commercial activities within the federal territory.
Authorities stressed that enforcement and monitoring activities will continue to be intensified to ensure all business operators comply with existing laws, licensing requirements and regulatory standards.
The Labuan Corporation reiterated its commitment to working closely with enforcement agencies to maintain public order, protect consumers and create a fair business environment for legitimate operators.
Officials also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals or businesses found violating licensing laws or engaging in unlawful activities.
