Johor Umno Youth has claimed that Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) failure to name a Chief Minister candidate ahead of the Johor state election reflects weakness and uncertainty in the coalition’s leadership.
Johor Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said the inability or reluctance to present a potential state leader raises questions about PH’s direction and preparedness for the polls.
He said any political team should announce its leader or “captain” early to inspire confidence among members and supporters regarding its ability to win and govern.
“Failure or reluctance to name a captain suggests that the team does not have a credible or capable figure who is trusted to carry out the responsibility,” he said in a statement today.
He added that even if such an individual were eventually announced, it might not be enough to boost morale or convince supporters.
Noor Azleen was responding to PH leaders who defended the decision not to name a Chief Minister candidate before the election.
Previously, Johor Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi also questioned PH’s ability to present clear leadership and a convincing development plan for the state ahead of polling day.
