Two rooms at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Parit Serong in Tanjung Karang, near Kuala Selangor, were damaged in a fire shortly after midnight, with no injuries reported.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said emergency services received a distress call at 12.50am before firefighters from the Tanjung Karang Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 1.01am.
The operation was supported by personnel from the Kuala Selangor and Sungai Besar fire stations, involving a total of 13 firefighters and three fire engines.
According to Ashrul Riezal, the blaze affected approximately 40 per cent of the area involved.
Further inspections revealed that the fire broke out in a section measuring about 18.3 metres by 7.6 metres, which housed two rooms — the administration office and the resource unit room.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 1.13am before continuing extinguishing and overhaul operations to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was also notified and carried out a power supply shutdown at the affected premises as a safety precaution.
The operation was fully concluded at 3.56am.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported, while investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
