Penang Police Hunt Two Men Wanted In Separate Murder Investigations

Date:

Penang police are tracking down two men, including a Myanmar national, to assist in investigations into two separate murder cases in the state.

The Penang Criminal Investigation Department (CID) identified the individuals as Hein Min Zaw, a Myanmar citizen holding passport number MH120232, and local man Ong Wei Hao, 42.

In a statement on Monday, police said Hein Min Zaw is wanted to assist in the investigation into the murder of a Myanmar national whose body was found in Lorong IKS Juru 5, Simpang Ampat, on April 5.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding Hein Min Zaw’s whereabouts to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Muazzam Syaaban at 017-4825017.

According to police, the victim, a 53-year-old factory worker, was found lying by the roadside with stab wounds to his ribs.

Investigations revealed that police received information about the incident from an individual who had allegedly been informed about the matter by the suspect before a report was lodged at approximately 10.50pm.

A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the victim died from stab wounds that penetrated his heart.

Meanwhile, police are also searching for Ong Wei Hao to assist in investigations into the murder of a man whose body was discovered inside a suitcase near Flat Ampang Jajar in Permatang Pauh on October 9 last year.

Members of the public with information on Ong’s whereabouts have been urged to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Hasryman at 011-63319773.

Police said checks with the Immigration Department showed no record of the suspect leaving the country. Authorities also found no evidence that his identity had been used in any official transactions, including through the BUDI95 system.

In the second case, the victim, identified as Lee Boon Han, 31, was found with injuries to his neck. Both of his hands had been tied and a plastic bag had been placed over his head.

Police received a report regarding the discovery at approximately 1.46pm before officers confirmed that the body had been abandoned inside a suitcase behind the apartment complex.

A post-mortem examination determined that the victim died from suffocation.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in both investigations.
