A mysterious loud noise heard for two consecutive days inside the ceiling of a house in Kampung Baung Bayam, Kota Bharu, left a 70-year-old man worried after initially suspecting the presence of a snake or monitor lizard.
The confusion was finally resolved when the authorities discovered that the disturbance was caused by a trapped serati bird lodged inside the ceiling of the home.
According to the Civil Defence Force (APM) Kota Bharu, they received an emergency call at 11.56am on Monday before a team was dispatched to the scene to investigate the situation.
Upon inspection, officers confirmed that the bird had become stuck in the ceiling space, believed to have flown in and sought shelter following disturbance from nearby cleaning activities.
The elderly homeowner had reported hearing the noise for two days before deciding to seek assistance from the authorities after failing to locate the source himself.
A four-member APM team later carried out a rescue operation, which began at about 12.55pm and was successfully completed within an hour.
Officials confirmed that the bird, believed to belong to a neighbour, was safely removed without causing any damage to the structure of the house.
Authorities also advised the public to promptly contact relevant agencies if wild animals or birds enter residential properties to avoid potential injury or property damage.
